What a member can and cannot do
You were invited to an account that already exists. The screen does not show “create project” or “invite people” — and that, most of the time, is not a bug. The regular user (member) profile was built to log your own hours and collaborate on the projects you belong to.
This article is the summary of your profile. Whoever configures what others can do is in user permissions.
💡 If the screen does not allow it, the profile usually does not have that action. Whoever administers the account unlocks what is missing — you do not promote yourself.
How to see your permissions (and your manager)
The signed-in user's permissions
You do not need to guess. Rabbiit shows a summary of your user:
- Open the profile menu (top-right corner).
- Go to Profile and preferences — that is your user settings screen.
- In the left menu, You section, right below Profile and preferences, open Permissions and assignments.
On that page you look up, without editing:
- Your profile — regular user, superuser, or administrator, with the list of what that profile can do.
- Your manager — the immediate manager. That is who receives the week you submit. If No manager appears, the week submission does not go out: ask the administrator to define who approves your hours.
- If your profile is superuser, extra permissions, assigned people or teams, and the projects where you are a manager also appear.
You look it up. Whoever changes role, manager, or extras is whoever edits your user on the account.
What a member can do
- Sign in to the account, change their own password, and set their own profile photo.
- Create and edit only their own hours — on the project or on the Timesheet.
- See only their own hours in reports.
- Access public projects and the projects they are a member of.
- Collaborate on activities in those projects (open the card, comment, attach, complete — whatever the project allows). Detail in join an activity without being a manager.
- Submit their own week when the account uses approval — if there is a manager on the profile.
What a member cannot do
- Create a project, manage clients, or manage the account’s task catalog.
- Invite people, edit users, or change someone else’s permissions.
- Become a project manager — a regular user is not promoted to manager. That requires a superuser.
- See other people’s hours, internal cost, or billing amounts.
- Mark hours as billed, change the plan, or change the payment method.
- Approve the team queue — approving submitted hours is the manager’s job.
- Log an absence or holiday on their own profile. Whoever edits the user is who logs that.
If a colleague sends one of those links, send it back to whoever administers the account.
If the screen does not allow it
Three checks, in this order:
- Open Permissions and assignments and confirm the profile and the manager.
- If the entry will not edit, read why I cannot edit a time entry (billed, date lock, or permission).
- If the week was rejected, the path is correct and resubmit — not “ask the manager to click again” without fixing what was missing.
